Logistics is defined as the management of the flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet the requirements of customers or corporations (Wikipedia). At its core, “logistics” simply means having the right thing, at the right place at the right time. But the simplicity of this statement belies the complexity of the underlying systems that make this seemingly simple concept work.

Logistics Management and Customer Satisfaction

EVS Metal, although known globally for its expertise in sheet metal fabrication, machining, assembly and finishing, is also proud to be a respected end-to-end manufacturing services provider.  Handling logistics alongside other services is an important way in which we account for all of our customers’ manufacturing needs. This can be especially helpful when it comes to ensuring complete customer satisfaction, as it results in streamlining and efficiencies that wouldn’t be possible if the various processes involved were being handled by multiple companies.

For instance, many of our clients come to us for the design and prototyping of specialty items. These products often end up as production short-runs, because though important to the industry for which they were designed and produced, they are likely to be quite expensive and subject to limited demand due to their specialized nature. These projects can be difficult to manage in-house, and outsourcing the logistics to EVS is one way our clients save time and money while staying on the cutting edge of their industries. By managing our clients’ inventory we are able to meet required volumes at all levels, even when demand fluctuates widely. Thanks to technologies such as electronic requirement sharing and kanban programs, EVS is able to provide managed inventory services not just at our own facilities, but at customers’ facilities and third-party warehouses as well.

Full-Service Metal Fabrication and Manufacturing Must Include Logistics

Our commitment to being a full-service manufacturing provider doesn’t stop at the warehouse level, but instead extends through shipping and delivery as well. With facilities in four different US locations comprising 270,000 square feet of space, we are able to keep our own fleet of trucks which allows us to move products to our customers efficiently and cost-effectively within 300 miles of our warehouses, so they get what they need, exactly when they need it.

Besides EVS truck delivery, we also partner with common carriers and overseas shipment specialists to move items anywhere in the world. By maintaining excellent relationships with outside providers, we are able to consistently ensure that our customers’ shipments are delivered on time and damage-free. Additionally, for those customers who wish to dropship products, we are able to utilize electronic communication with minimal client involvement to handle the final packaging and shipment to their end clients.

By providing consistent, quality services through the entire lifecycle of our customers’ projects, from design to delivery, we create time and cost efficiencies that would otherwise be impossible, allowing our clients to focus on what really matters — their ideas. Concept development and planning are what ultimately create future revenue streams. EVS Metal understands that having the resources available to think creatively is not simply a luxury in today’s economy — it’s a necessity. And it’s one from which everyone benefits: our customers, their end clients, EVS and everyone in between. It is a synergy that works, and we are dedicated to doing our part, and doing it well.
