In-house powder coating is one of the most operationally significant investments EVS Metal has made across its four facilities. When finishing runs through an outside vendor, it adds lead time, introduces a quality handoff, and creates a scheduling dependency that’s difficult to manage in high-volume production. EVS eliminated that dependency by building automated powder coating lines into three facilities in the national network, plus manual options in New Hampshire. Each location runs a full pretreatment system — multi-stage gas-heated spray wash, RO Halo rinse, and reverse-osmosis phosphate tank fill — before parts ever reach the coating booth. Pretreatment is what determines coating adhesion and long-term corrosion resistance; it’s not a step that can be shortcut.
The automated Nordson coating booths at New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas run six-gun reciprocating automation, which delivers uniform film thickness across complex geometry at production throughput. New Hampshire runs a dedicated prime-and-finish system with four paint booths and Waste2Water pretreatment and recycle modules.
For OEM programs where finish consistency is a quality spec — not just an aesthetic preference — the in-house approach means every batch is run on the same equipment, with the same chemistry, tracked through the same quality system. That’s a different level of process control than you get from outsourced finishing.
