RIVERDALE, N.J, July 6th, 2021: EVS Metal has been named a Fab 40 metal fabricator for the 12th consecutive year by The Fabricator magazine. As in previous years, EVS is the only precision sheet metal fabricator in the Tri-State area (New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut) to make the prestigious list.
2020: A Year of Challenges Accepted, and Met
The COVID-19 pandemic presented massive challenges to most businesses in 2020, and commercial metal fabrication companies were no exception. Although there were moments of difficulty, EVS Metal was fortunate to have been able to stay open and continue normal operations throughout the year, thanks to their classification as an essential business by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). With safeguards in place, like masks and social distancing, EVS remained a safe place to work, even during the height of the virus’ spread, allowing the company to not only keep up with production but grow at a pace almost no one could have predicted given the overall state of the country and many facets of the global economy.
Investing in the Future
Even during what was a year of uncertainty, EVS Metal continued to invest in the latest and best precision sheet metal fabrication available. Notable acquisitions included:
- A Direct Color Systems 7200z direct-to-substrate inkjet printer for the Riverdale, New Jersey metal fab faciity and company HQ
- A second Amada EM 3612 ZRT turret punch press for NJ
- A Haas EC-400 Horizontal Machining Center with Pallet Pool for the Pflugerville (Austin), Texas facility
- A second Amada HG 1003 press brake, this time with the addition of an automatic tool changer (ATC), bending robot, and automated pallet changer for NJ
These new machines will allow EVS to continue to provide the highest levels of quality and service to our valued customers into 2022 and beyond.
EVS Metal: Fabrication Industry Thought Leaders
Thanks to the company’s long-time relationship with The Fabricator magazine, EVS was once again able to publish a featured article, this time spotlighting the fabrication of a specialized, high-end piece of audio production equipment by Whitestone Audio Instruments. The article illustrates exactly why many companies are again choosing to work with American manufacturers rather than off-shoring their projects to Asia and Mexico. According to company co-founder, Dave Rosen, Whitestone simply wasn’t able to achieve the level of quality or service their product required when attempting to have it made overseas. After partnering with EVS Metal, the P331 Tube Loading Amplifier’s various components had a better and more consistent fit and finish, resulting in a product that looked and functioned exactly as he had envisioned.
The Fabricator’s Prediction: A Fast and Furious Recovery, Continued Growth
The Fabricator’s annual Fab 40 coverage always includes an overview of the metal fabrication industry as a whole. This year they summed up the state of things with an article spotlighting how well fabricators have managed to keep up with a surprisingly fast-moving recovery after so much uncertainty over the past year, predicting that the industry may be on the cusp of new levels of growth. The primary obstacles to this growth, if any, would likely be high materials prices, and the scarcity of skilled labor in so many areas. If fabricators can manage those two factors, and continue to invest in automation, it seems like the sky may very well be the limit as the industry moves into 2022.
