I bet you didn’t know EVS was into the art scene, did you?
Well down in Houston, EVS is supplying the materials needed to create amazing sculptural pieces, like the one artist Margo Sawyer created for a new outdoor space, Discovery Green. EVS Metal’s Texas precision fabrication facility, just outside of Austin, fabricated all of the sheet metal for Margo which she then turned into a thing of beauty.
Here’s an excerpt from the NY Times article that gives readers an inside look at Margo’s inspiration:
Discovery Green, set to open April 13, offers recreation-seekers a striking new downtown amenity within steps of the George R. Brown Convention Center and Minute Maid Park, where the Houston Astros play. Even the underground garage exits are blocks of primal color, the handiwork of an Austin sculptor, Margo Sawyer, who said the city cried out for vibrancy. “Oh, my God,” Ms. Sawyer said she exclaimed at first seeing the site, “We really need color.”
When finished, the sculpture drew quite a bit of national attention. So much so that United Airlines put it on the cover of Hemispheres magazine:
Who knows, maybe artistic sculpture is our new thing…?
